How to perform keyword research using Google Keyword Tool
Getting relevant targeted traffic from search engine takes a requires more research compared to paid ones. Any keyword you choose must be long enough to avoid as many competition but not too long until no one search for that term.

Ever wonder how to find a long, less competitive keywords but with decent traffic? Well here’s the technique. Go to Google Keyword Tool and search for particular terms. For example like ferret training. Or bearded dragon. A list of 150 keywords will be generated.
Next type any keyword with three words in quote into Google search box and press search. You can now see the number of organic competition for that keyword. Will your website or article get good ranking for that keyword? Well that depends. This is how good the keyword is measured:
Excellent keywords: 1000+ monthly search, but competition lower than 10,000.
Good keywords:
1000+ searched per month, with competition between 10,001 – 20,000.
or 500 to 999 searched per month, with competition less than 10,000.
or 0 – 499 monthly search, with competition less than 10,000.
Fair keywords:
1000+ searched per month, with 20,001- 50,000 competition.
Or 500 to 999 monthly search, with 10,001 – 20,000 competition.
While other than excellent, good or fair keywords are bad keywords, which you should ignore. It is extremely hard, in most cases, impossible to get top ten in Google for such competitive keywords like dog, money, weight loss, except if your website is Wikipedia.org.

Example of how I use Money Word Matrix Desktop Edition
There are a few steps to use Money Word Matrix. When I first used this tool, I need to enter my Niche Profit Classroom login name and password. This program can be used only on two different computers.
For this example, I used Bearded Dragon keyword. Log on to Google Keyword tool, type in Bearded Dragon. A list of 150 keywords will be generated. Next, I need to export the results into csv file for Excel.
On my desktop, I ran Money Word Matrix Desktop Edition. I browsed for the CSV file to import the keywords and search volume into this tool.
Finally, Money Word Matrix tool would tell me whether one keyword is good, excellent, fair or poor. To get high ranking in Google and other search engines, optimize articles and blog posts for good and excellent keywords only. While ignore the poor ones.
In this example, keyword "bearded dragon cages" is excellent. Money Word Matrix is a must-have tool if you want to get free search engine traffic using article marketing or search engine optimization (SEO).

Why search engine traffic?
It is a fact that search engine traffic is the best and should be your number one source of traffic. While other websites like forum, blog comments, social networking, Twitter and social bookmark sites could bring traffic as well, it is not as much and as good compared to search engine traffic. Here’s why:
- Search engine giants like Google, Yahoo, MSN or even Youtube are the most trafficked websites on the net. Hence, the chance of getting traffic and most importantly customers are high, compared to the rest.
- The traffic are targeted since your visitors reach your website by entering keywords.
- The conversion rate is higher compared to forum marketing, social networking. It would be faster and easier to get sales compared to other resources.
- If you offer newsletters, free course your visitors will most likely subscribe since there are interested in your offer.
- If you provide affiliate programs, affiliates who’s going to promote your products will likely search on Google or Yahoo as well.
When I say getting targeted traffic from search engine, I don’t mean that you need to be an expert in SEO. You can and will get the traffic as long as your websites or articles remain relevant.
